SEP SoCal - overview map showing camp location

There are three roads into Big Bear Lake (choose one below).

Some people who live in Big Bear say that it is best to come from the north, even if you live south of Big Bear Lake.  Although computerized programs will direct you via Highway 330, that highway has winding roads and a lot of traffic. And since there are few places to pass, a slow vehicle can slow you down for miles.  So it is sometimes better to take Interstate 15 north through the mountains (although there is a steep grade for several miles, it's a fairly straight road with several lanes of traffic) and then take Highway 18 through the high desert and approach Big Bear Lake from the north. Others say that Highway 330 is shorter and faster, even if there are occasional slow spots. So take your choice.
