From Highway 38
Computerized mapping programs say that the fastest way to Big Bear, even from the southeast, is to use CA-330. Route 38 may take 20 minutes longer.
Exit Hwy 10 at University St. in
Redlands. Turn north (left) at the stop sign. You will travel through
the University of Redlands campus, and after a few blocks you will
reach Lugonia/Hwy 38. Turn right onto Lugonia/Hwy 38. This road will
take you all the way to Big Bear. See maps below.
Once on Hwy 38 you will travel through Mentone, Angelus Oaks, past
Barton Flats and Heart Bar National Forest Campgrounds, Onyx Summit,
Lake Williams and finally into Big Bear Valley. Hwy 38 then makes a
sharp turn to the left. Turn Left, staying on Hwy 38 which has now
become Big Bear Blvd., the main drag of Big Bear. Continue on
Big Bear Blvd. You will pass through Big Bear City and into Big Bear
Lake. It will turn to four lanes as you reach lake itself. After
passing through Big Bear Lake you will reach a three way stop. You will
be facing a Chevron Gas Station. Turn right. Follow the road
around the curve and up the hill (here you'll pass Magic
Mountain/Alpine Slide on the left). At the top of the hill, Mill Creek
road branches off to the left. Take Mill Creek road through the
residential area. You'll immediately pass the Aspen Glen
National Forest Picnic area on the left, opposite of Oak Knoll Lodge.
At the top of the small hill, Mill Creek branches to the left, turn
left. Follow Mill Creek until the pavement ends. You'll see a gravel
road directly in front of you, along with a sign marked "Cedar Lake
Camp". Follow this road into camp.
Welcome to Cedar
Lake!
